10 Before 2: The April Trail Challenge
Two Before Ten started with a simple idea: two coffees before 10 am will set you up for your perfect day.
Now, that philosophy has evolved into TBTs latest initiative: 10 Before 2 – a simple checklist method to complete ten meaningful tasks before 2pm. It’s all about building momentum and turning small wins into a productive day.
Whether it’s a morning walk, finishing a book chapter, or choosing an alcohol-free day, these intentional actions add up. Research in behavioural psychology highlights the power of small, achievable goals in fostering motivation and long-term habit formation (Latham & Locke, 2007; Wood & Neal, 2007). The 10 Before 2 method aligns with findings on the Zeigarnik effect, which suggests that the listing of tasks motivate individuals to complete them (Ovsiankina, 1928).
This April, we’re driving those principles into the next TBT health & fitness challenge: tackling a different Canberra trail each week. The goal isn’t just fitness – it’s about completing something tangible, stepping outside, and seeing more of Canberra.

The April Trail Challenge
- Week 1: Mount Ainslie Summit Trail
A 4.5 km track from the Australian War Memorial to one of Canberra’s iconic lookouts. - Week 2: Gibraltar Peak
An 8.2 km trek through Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. - Week 3: National Arboretum Tracks
The Arboretum offers over 20kms of trails with several options of shorter and longer walks. - Week 4: Mount Taylor
Wrap up the challenge with the highest southside hill, just over 2kms to get to the peak overlooking Canberra’s south.
Canberra has a long list great trails, so if you’re keen to add more to your 10 Before 2 list or swap out any, follow the link for options: https://www.alltrails.com/australia/australian-capital-territory/canberra/walking
Ticking these trails off the list is just another way to bring 10 Before 2 to life – small wins that add up, because it matters. Share your walks with #10Before2
